I thought I would post up my progress so far on my Mini Van!
This is when I first got him, in all his primered, nekkie glory!
Plans for Frankie are to rebuild him relatively standard, but with some modern, more practical touches!
Frankie is going to be my company van, for my Photography business. We figured that he'd be a great promotional vehicle!
So, in the end, Frankie will be sign-written and used as my company car! He'll be travelling the length and breadth of the country and used properly, like a MiniVan should!
Frankie sat in the bodyshop for the next couple of weeks, whilst he was painted
I'd never seen the colour before, but I knew I wanted him 'Florentine Blue'! Though, all I'd seen was a tine 'chip' from a colour book! So I prayed that the actual colour was the same!!
The couple of weeks later, I went down to check him out!!
Check out the finish!!
And it's much the same standard everywhere else on the car!
2 weeks later, with the help from my uncle, we collected him!
Loading him onto the trailer...
All tied down ...
Ready for the off ...
En Route (hehe!) ...
Home ...
!
When Frankie got home, he met Jack, Kris' Pickup!
;D
So ...
Since that day, we've bought SO many parts for him and got SO many things ready to build him up!
We've bought endless amounts of seals, brackets, clips, bolts!
I've also bought him a set of original 60's dunlop D1 wheels!
A fibreglass Stiggy Dash and some Mazda MX-5 seats!
Some 7.5" AP Brakes!
And the list goes on and on .... !!
The engine is going to be a very tidy, freshly rebuilt 1275, with maybe a couple of extra little additions! I've got a Megajolt setup for it, too!
So .. this is how he stands now!
So .. recently we did some work on the Dunlops ...
From this:
To this:
Started to recondition the radius arm:
We also went to see Yosuke Yamamoto ... the man behind 'MiniTastic'. He let us lose in the demonstrator car and it really was amazing!! So, came back with a little present for the van!
Then we started building up the front subframe ...
Shiney shiney!
So this is about as far as we've got, really! There's alot more to do, but it all depends on the engine going in to be able to sort alot of it out ... so that's the next thing!!
Watch this space and I hope you like him!
